Glendale city officials have much to look forward to.
Dave McAlindin, assistant director of the economic development department for the city, discussed the accomplishments from 2012 and what his department is working on for the coming year.
“There is $174 million in new construction scheduled for early next year, 500 new jobs that will be created with the completion of the construction and 455,000 square feet of new buildings being built in Glendale,” he said. “The pipeline continues to fill and we are looking forward to new projects being announced and new quality jobs being created.”
The most notable jobs included:
· Tanger Factory Outlets – 900 jobs
· Dignity Health Hospital – 200 jobs
· Winco – 250 jobs
· Humana – 229 jobs
· Midwestern University (Vet School) – 60 jobs
· Arrowhead Cadillac – 140 jobs
Slated projects for 2013 include:
· Small Business Assistance Center with the city’s partners Glendale Community College, Small Business Development Center, Procurement Technical Assistance Center
· Campaign for 2015 Super Bowl, to promote Glendale as a great place to bring business
· Continuing to work with city partners Greater Phoenix Economic Council to bring quality companies and their high paying jobs to Glendale
· Fully occupying the Talavi Tech building in the coming year
