The Arizona Republic Editorial Board, West Valley
At times, the cities and towns in the West Valley seem like worlds apart. A small city with a population of 6,000 does not have much in common with a large city of more 230,000, yet Litchfield Park and Glendale share the region.
And because 15 vastly different cities, towns and communities share the western side of the Valley, they have a responsibility to put aside their differences and join together when the time calls for it. They did so for Fighter Country Partnership, Luke Forward, efforts to get the University of Phoenix Stadium and more.
But many of those initiatives would not have been possible without some push from the West Valley organizations that advocate for true leaders, economic development and vibrant communities.
Organizations such as Westmarc, Leadership West and the six chambers of commerce are needed for our communities to thrive and develop, and luckily, they’ve done their job so far.
But how did these organizations come about to start advocating for the West Valley communities and residents?
