Many after Simplot’s council seat

SimplotThe District 4 council race is turning out to be Phoenix’s most contested.

The primary election is Aug. 27.

Those looking to replace Tom Simplot are gay-rights activist Austin Head; Encanto Village Planning Committee vice chairman Dan Carroll; former city council candidate Laura Pastor; Planning Commission member Justin Johnson; former Tolleson City Councilman Santos Chavez; former state Sen. David Lujan, Scott Fistler, a disabled veteran, and Jeffrey Brown, former congressional candidate.

Tom Simplot is not running for re-election in District 4.
