Pinal County Superior Court Judge Boyd Johnson announced Friday he would be retiring from the bench at the end of next month after nearly two full decades on the court.

That will mean the second judicial replacement on the Pinal Superior Court this year.

In March, Republican Gov. Jan Brewer selected former Special Victims Unit Bureau Chief Jason Holmberg of the Pinal County Attorney’s Office to replace Judge Janna Vanderpool, who announced her retirement for medical reasons.
