The “Rehabilitation of the Second Pinal County Courthouse” won the Grand Award — the first time a Florence preservation project has received this top honor — at the Arizona Historic Preservation Conference Awards.

It was one of nine awards presented at the 11th Annual Arizona Historic Preservation Conference Awards Luncheon at the Phoenix Hilton East/Mesa on Friday, June 14.

Although many projects in Florence have received the Governor’s Heritage Preservation Honor Award in the past, this is the first time a project in Florence has been selected to win the Grand Award.

Since 1982, the Arizona Preservation Foundation and the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, a division of Arizona State Parks, have partnered to present the Governor’s Heritage Preservation Honor Awards. These awards recognize people, organizations, and projects that represent outstanding achievements in preserving Arizona’s prehistoric and historic resources.
