Mohave County supervisors to revisit ban on guns at libraries

The county supervisors will again discuss Monday what to do about a ban of weapons at county libraries.

The board will look to review Mohave County Administrator Mike Hendrix’s recommendation to ban guns at the 10 county branch libraries. The library district citizens advisory committee opposed allowing guns in the libraries because of the number of elementary age school children who use the libraries, which should be considered safe zones. Gun lockers are available at all 10 branch libraries in the county.

The supervisors previously removed the ban on weapons by citizens or county employees at the county administration building and voted to allow elected officials to decide whether to ban guns at other county buildings including the courthouses.
