A group of Mohave County Republican precinct committee members voted to censure Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and 15 members of the state legislature for passing the governor’s plan to expand the state Medicaid program.
In a resolution passed at their meeting earlier this month, the precinct committee members accused select members of the legislature of a variety of violations of the Arizona Constitution and turning their backs on “Republican Party principles and the Republican Party platform.”
The resolution carries little effect, other than to publicly admonish Republican lawmakers who may now be targeted by conservatives in the party in future election bids.
