Old Brooks building to be sold in foreclosure

Some time ago, a building on Central Avenue in the heart of downtown was a thriving department store, with mannequins in the window and a consistent flow of customers going in and out.

Now the building, located at 232 W. Central Ave., is abandoned, a reminder of the good times that are a thing of the past. People come into town thinking it’s a movie theater, only to find the windows boarded up and the multi-color paint peeling off.

Now, the structure, known as the old Brooks Department Store building, is in foreclosure. A sale on the building is set to take place on Oct. 21, with the bank looking to release as much collateral as possible as early as possible.
