The City of Chandler is accepting Requests for Proposal, or RFPS, in order to sell a City-owned property at the southwest corner of Gilbert and Ocotillo roads.
The city intended to use the location to build a water treatment facility, but opted to move it to a different location and open the land for sale. The purpose is to determine the market value of the land and its potential for development.
“We believe there may be a market for a neighborhood commercial center with a grocery anchor, and possibly a residential development,” said Economic Development Specialist James Smith in a press release.
Proposals are due by 3 p.m. on Oct. 29 and will be reviewed by the city, and the process does not force the city to sell the lot or allow any development on it without the Chandler City Council’s approval. Any RFP approved by city staff and recommended to council will go through a complete zoning process that allows for public input.
