‎Surprise approves Rose Law Group client’s major development deal

The City of Surprise Thursday night gave final approval to a WinCo located at the 303 and Bell Road. Rose Law Group’s Jordan Rose and Adam Trenk, represented the underlying land owner in the entitlement process.

With a staff recommendation for a continuance and a nearby commercial landowner and neighbors retaining two well-regarded land use attorneys to oppose the project as well as a political/neighborhood consultant, the trajectory of the hearing yesterday was anything but certain.

After a few hours of heated testimony from the public and professionals hired in opposition, the planning commission voted 6-1 for approval.

Rose Law Group coordinated its efforts with the land use attorney hired by WinCo, Jason Morris. When Rose and Morris talked before the hearing, they characterized the challenge as more than just a major development case, but rather  a “generational fight” because Rose started her career working for Ed Bull, who had been retained to represent the opposing neighbors, and Morris started his career working for Paul Gilbert, who was retained by the opposing neighboring commercial property owner.

While this may not always be true, last night in Surprise at least, “the young guys” won. Congratulations WinCo.
