Arizona commercial contractors more pessimistic than most

Arizona commercial contractors have entered the new year with a gloomier perspective than others throughout the nation, and with the notion that growth still is at least another year away. Statewide employment — despite modest improvements in 2013 — still is far below pre-recession days, while lending remains tight and public funding — especially for highway and transåportation projects — is limited. Arizona firms were, however, equally concerned as their nationwide peers regarding issues such as the skilled labor shortage and rising health care costs.
