There will be no civil unions in Camp Verde.
Not now. Not soon. Maybe not at all.
At Wednesday’s regular session, the council voted 3-3 against Town staff preparing an ordinance to recognize civil unions. Without a majority of four, any vote – even a majority – is a defeat.
Of the close to 40 Camp Verde residents at Wednesday’s meeting, held in the community center gym, many spoke not only against civil unions, but also against the council making a decision.
