Downtown improvement district rents at issue for some in Flagstaff

The Flagstaff City Council has received seven letters of objection to a proposed improvement district in the historic downtown area.

The council will hold a public hearing on the new district at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 211 W. Aspen Ave.

The proposed district would allow a commission made up of property owners in the district to address some of the parking, maintenance, improvement, zoning and events and marketing issues in the area. The commission would have the power to levy a tax against property owners in the district in order to fund improvement projects.
