Former Glendale attorney and the public bidding policy

Then-Glendale City Attorney Craig Tindall recommended awarding a lucrative no-bid contract to a private law firm despite a city policy requiring the contract to be publicly bid, according to records obtained by The Arizona Republic.

Tindall’s involvement in awarding a no-bid contract for an audit of the city’s finances last year contradicts his statements to The Republic in January, when the newspaper reported on his efforts to raise money for his son’s high-school tuition using a city e-mail account.

Tindall told The Republic in January that he did not play a major role in awarding the no-bid contract to Haralson, Miller, Pitt, Feldman & McAnally,the law firm of former U.S. Attorney for Arizona José de Jesús Rivera. Rivera is a friend of Tindall’s and one of the people to whom Tindall sent an e-mail last year seeking a donation for his son’s tuition.
