Former mayoral candidate Manuel Cruz, dies at 48

Manuel Cruz, 48, and former candidate for mayor in the 2012 election, died early morning May 12 at his home surrounded by family. Cruz had been diagnosed with lung cancer in September shortly after pulling nomination papers to make a run for Arizona State Mine Inspector. He had spent most of his career in the state mine inspector’s office.

Cruz is survived by his wife, Val Revering, and the couple’s five children: Chris, Jon, Kym, Molly, and Jessica.
