With updated development impact fees in place, the Surprise City Council will consider a new ordinance to regulate them.
The council approved a new set of impact fees during its May 20 meeting. Impact fees are paid by developers to the city for infrastructure associated with development projects. New fees will take effect Aug. 1.
“Cities charge one-time impact fees to developers who are creating demand for city services by building new homes and commercial structures,” explained Bob Wigenroth, Surprise chief financial officer.
