Ritz-Carlton developer threatens to leave Paradise Valley

The developer of a proposed Ritz-Carlton resort within the Town of Paradise Valley has withdrawn its special-use permit preliminary application and has threatened to build the resort in another community.

At issue is Five Star Development’s desire to change the original SUP approved by town council and later ratified by local residents six years ago.

The change seeks permission from the town to change the density and build more units on the property — a change town officials appear to be reluctant to grant.
