More Arizonans divorcing auto travel, traveling lite

Arizonans have been driving less, walking more and riding public transit in high numbers in recent years, according to a report issued by the Arizona PIRG Education Fund.

The Bikes, Trains and Less Driving report documents a 10.5 percent decline in yearly vehicle miles traveled per capita in Arizona between 2005 and 2012 and demonstrates that Arizonans drive fewer miles per person than in 1994, when the state’s population was lower.
