Florence voters reject Home Rule

NOFlorence Reminder

After renewing the town of Florence’s “Home Rule Option” every four years since the 1980s, a majority Florence voters suddenly said “no” in Tuesday’s primary election. This means the town can’t budget all its revenues and must instead make cuts to adhere to a state spending formula.

Assistant Town Manager Jess Knudson couldn’t say Wednesday morning if plans for a new aquatic center, library and related facilities will be able to proceed.
