(Editor’s note: Opinion pieces are posted only for purposes of discussion.)I will always wonder how far Justin Pierce’s career would have gone if APS hadn’t ended it.

Let’s assume that there were no deals…not even winks. Let’s assume that Gary Pierce is stunned that while he is a sitting Commissioner, voting on APS proposals, the company would secretly funnel $500,000 into his son’s race for Secretary of State.

What was APS thinking? Didn’t they know that these contributions would look corrupt? Didn’t they know that people would accuse Commissioner Pierce of cutting a deal? Didn’t they know that there are no secrets in politics?
