Employee rights on Election Day

VOTE-279x300Arizona employers must give full-time hourly workers paid time to vote under a state law that requires workers have a three-hour window of time to vote on Election Day.

Employers that violate the statute can face misdemeanor charges.

If an employee has an 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift, they can get an hour of paid leave the beginning or end of the day to give them the required three hours to get to the polls.

If they are somehow working from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. then an employer has to give them a three-hour window to vote.
