Peoria’s vice-mayor’s hidden past exposed

Documents show Peoria Vice Mayor Ronald Aames changed his last name years ago.

Peoria schools activist Jan Wilson says VIce Mayor Aames’ opponents had questions about his college degrees. But those questions – which were largely put to rest — would provide the first hints that Aames had lived another life: under another name, with a family he left.

Wilson, who was involved in a recall against Aames that never got off the ground, said it is “actually quite disappointing and shows a lack of integrity” that Aames has never told the whole story to voters.

Government and court documents show he was born Ronald Klimek in Wisconsin in July, 1940. He got married, had three children, got divorced and changed his name.
