Pima County’s newest jurisdiction, the Town of Sahuarita is considered one of the fastest growing communities in Arizona.
The 30-square-mile town, located 15 minutes south of Tucson, has seen a population increase of nearly 700 percent between 2000 and 2010, and projections show that by 2020 the town will house more than 140,000 residents.
Required to suffice this fast-growing town is adequate business, and in that regard the town has remained stable.
While the number of building permits issue have decreased since the town saw a building boom in 2006 (2,703 permits issued), the past five years have shown relative consistency: 894 building permits issued in fiscal year 2010, 744 in 2011, 775 in 2012, 859 in 2013, and 855 last year.
