Seems there’s a gag order at Apple plant

gaggedNo one’s talking about Apple supplier GT Advanced Technologies bankruptcy and the layoff of hundreds of workers in Mesa, reports Ryan Randazzo  of The Arizona Republic.

GT said in September it was having problems with the factory and not producing the scratch-resistant glass as expected, but that it should be at full capacity by January.

Apple uses sapphire glass on its iPhone home buttons and to cover camera lenses. Some speculated GT’s glass could be used on the new phones, but that is not the case.

Investment firms, investors and technology fans want to know whether the furnaces that make the sapphire are working properly and whether the company’s management has been competent.

Apple has asked the court to seal some of the competitive information.
