Solar farms set for San Tan Valley

Mesa Solar LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Solar Inc., plans to build photovoltaic-panels farms on hundreds of acres of State Trust land near San Tan Valley, according to the Sept. 19 agenda for the Pinal County Planning and Zoning Commission.

The commission at a meeting that day voted to recommend that the Pinal County Board of Supervisors approve the projects, according to Joe Pyritz, interim public information officer for Pinal County.

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors is slated to discuss on Oct. 15 two non-major amendments to the 2009 Pinal County Comprehensive Plan for the projects; and at a meeting Nov. 19 the rezoning requests for the two parcels, Mr. Pyritz said in a phone interview Sept. 30.
