Glendale councilwoman mulls asking for recount

City Councilwoman Norma Alvarez said she would decide by Monday whether to ask for a recount of votes in the recent Ocotillo District election, which Alvarez lost by 19 votes to newcomer Jamie Aldama.

“It’s so close, I think I need one,” Alvarez said Thursday, hours after Maricopa County Recorders Office figures confirmed her defeat in the Nov. 4 general election.

Two other newcomers, Lauren Tomalchoff and Bart Turner, easily won seats in the Cholla District and Barrel District, respectively.
