Despite her significant physical challenges, Jen Arnold persevered through her school years. Her education led to a medical degree and a career as a neonatologist in Houston, Tex.

At 39, Dr. Jennifer Arnold and her husband Bill are the adoptive parents of Will, who is from China, and Zoey, who is from India, after Jennifer suffered a miscarriage.

Arnold last year was diagnosed with a rare cancer that attacked her uterus and lungs. After exhaustive chemotherapy, she was declared free of cancer this year.

At just over three feet, Jennifer isn’t much taller than her stethoscope.

She, her husband and their two children have dwarfism. They star in the TV reality show “The Little Couple.”

Dr. Jennifer “Jen” Arnold is a little woman who’s bigger than life in my book.

We salute Time for its selection.
