Rehabilitation facilities will be built in Chandler and Mesa, pending approval by the board of Kindred Health Care, a large, publicly traded company based in Louisville, Ky.

The 50-bed Chandler in-patient rehab facility, valued at $22M to $23M, is a 65KSF structure at 1677 W. Chandler Boulevard just north of Chandler Regional Medical Center, which is owned by Dignity Health. The project could break ground by March pending rezoning by the city.

The $26M Mesa project, which could break ground in April, is at 10309 E. Hampton Avenue near Mountain View Hospital, which is owned by IASIS Healthcare, which is based in suburban Nashville.  The Mesa facility will house 20 beds for rehabilitation and 70 beds for transitional care.

Both are design/build projects with Kitchell in the lead; the architect is Ascension Group Architects of Arlington, Texas, with civil engineering and landscape architecture being done by Kimley-Horn. Kitchell has yet to hire subcontractors for either project.
