With the possibility of taking on nearly $23 million in added expenses handed down from the state, Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry has tried to find savings wherever they might be.
One place was the balance of uncontracted road repairs county officials had planned to spend $5 million on this year.
In a penny-pinching move, Huckelberry pulled the remaining $2.2 million in unspent funds back into the county’s general fund.
“It’s a fiscal crisis in the county; the state just took $23 million of our money,” Huckelberry said.
