Flagstaff residents shell out a hefty price tag in exchange for the spectacular view of the San Francisco Peaks.
“Personally, I love it here. It’s better than Phoenix,” said Roseana Cruz, a Flagstaff resident.
According to the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce website, in 2013 the cost to live in the city was 13.3% more than the national average.
But what makes the city so expensive?
“Rent is obviously one of the higher things we face here,” said Angela Thompson, a Flagstaff resident since 1991.
Rich Bowen, president of the Economic Collaborative in Northern Arizona, said living in Flagstaff is more expensive than most parts of the state and it has to do with housing costs.
