Casa Grande eligible for federal housing grant because of growth

A recent report by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department shows a median household income of $64,000 for Casa Grande, with many families falling well below that.

City staffers Steven Turner and Leila DeMaree hope to deal with related problems through a $354,682 federal Community Development Block Grant, which is designed to target lower-income households and neighborhoods.

“This information is really important because it can guide us to what we need to do next,” said DeMaree, senior planner for the city.
