Lennar to break ground in July on Central Avenue-McDowell Road apartments

New apartments are set to go up on the northwest corner of McDowell Road and Central Avenue in Phoenix. The land has been vacant for a number of years.

Lennar Corp. (NYSE: LEN) is scheduled to start construction in July on three new apartment developments in downtown Phoenix, Chandler and Tempe near Arizona State University.

The trio of complexes total more than 1,000 units, said Nathan Stum, development manager of Lennar Multifamily.

The most anticipated of those projects is a 367-unit complex on long-vacant land at the northwest corner of Central Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix. The development, called the Muse, will include 1,300 square feet of commercial space. Stum said a coffee shop, bistro and salon are likely to be in the ground-level space.
