Metrowest Development will start construction later this year on a second phase of townhouses at Fourth Avenue and McKinley Street.. The company has rehabbed Cathedral Townhomes on Roosevelt Street.

Metrowest Development — the infill developer of a number of projects on Roosevelt Row — will start construction later this year on a second phase of townhouses at Fourth Avenue and McKinley Street.

Metrowest also recently rehabilitated and sold two long empty, city-owned homes on Second Avenue. Metrowest partner Matt Seaman said the residences were built in 1904 and 1909, respectively.

One of the buyers is a family relocating downtown from Arcadia.

Seaman, whose firm also has rehabilitated the Cathedral Townhomes on Roosevelt Street, said rehabbing empty buildings is key to the success of his other projects in the area.

“We can’t walk people around the area and have them see vacant buildings,” said Seaman who acquired the properties from the city.
