A New River man was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty Monday after sheriff’s deputies said they found three malnourished and mistreated horses at his property near New River and Power Line roads last week.
Billy Krantz, who also goes by Billy Strangland, was booked on three counts of animal cruelty and two counts of failure to provide medical treatment.
One of the 34-year-old’s horses was “severely emaciated to the point where all of the horse’s ribs and hip bones were visibly showing,” an investigator reported after surveying Krantz’s house on June 8.
