Maricopa comes together in search for couple

Day four of the search for missing Maricopa couple Mike and Tina Careccia came to a disappointing close Thursday as community members continued to comb the desert for the pair.

The Careccias, who have five children, were last seen about 5 a.m. Monday as they left for work. Family members called police about 7 p.m. after they didn’t arrive to their appointments for the day.

On Thursday, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office announced its detectives were following up on tips in the rural area known as Thunderbird Farms close to the Careccia home south of Maricopa, but offered no specifics.

Pinal County Sheriff’s spokesman Mark Clark said there have been various measures taken in the last three days to try to track their location. Ground and air searches have been conducted in addition to the use of dogs to try to track their scent, Clark said.
