Hotels fight back against Airbnb

Industry group says many Airbnb hosts act as hoteliers without regulation.

Airbnb portrays itself as a mom-and-pop vacation-rental business and star of the sharing economy, but the hotel industry says a review of Airbnb listings in metro Phoenix and 11 other major cities turned up a bevy of hosts operating what amount to year-round, unregulated hotels collectively bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
