Pinal County attorney tells board to keep its hands off his budget

Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles thinks his department should be spared from across-the-board budget cuts because of its public-safety mission.

Talk of additional budget cuts has dominated recent discussions in Pinal County, and Voyles opposes a Board of Supervisors plan.

The board is looking into implementing budget cuts for all departments in fiscal year 2016-17, which begins July 1. The board has yet to decide whether that cut will be 3 percent or 4.5 percent.
