About a year ago, Madalyn’s mom and little brother moved across the country. Like anyone adjusting to a new reality, she struggled with the distance. Before they left, her little brother gave her a stuffed bear. She sprayed it with her mom’s perfume, and every night it became a small source of comfort—a familiar reminder of home when she needed it most.
As she began researching why something so simple could have such a profound effect, she discovered the science behind it. Familiar scents are closely tied to memory and emotion, warmth can promote relaxation, and gentle weight has been shown to create a calming, grounded feeling for many people.
That experience inspired her to create Nonny’s.
She wanted to design more than just another stuffed animal. She wanted to create something intentionally built to comfort people through life’s hardest moments—whether they’re missing someone they love, navigating anxiety, grieving a loss, or simply in need of a hug. Every Nonny’s combines soothing weight, optional warmth or cooling, and calming scents to create a comforting experience inspired by both personal experience and scientific research.
This fall, Nonny’s will launch its very first companion: Benny the Bear. Named after Madalyn’s little brother, Benny was inspired by the bear that brought her comfort during one of the hardest seasons of her life. Thoughtfully designed with gentle weight, optional warmth or cooling, and interchangeable scent inserts, Benny is more than a stuffed animal—he’s a hug that lasts forever.
Nonny’s will launch with its signature Vanilla scent insert, chosen for its warm, familiar, and comforting aroma, with additional scents planned for future releases.
If Madalyn’s little goodbye bear could help her through one of the hardest transitions of her life, she hopes Nonny’s can do the same for someone else.
