Construction crews have stopped demolition work at the Circles Records building after tearing down portions of the downtown property as part of redevelopment efforts.

Developer Geoffrey Jacobs issued a statement Monday saying demolition work has stopped and apologized for sudden tear downs of parts of the building, which was constructed in 1946.

Jacobs’ development group bought the former records store and car dealership property at Central Avenue and McKinley Street earlier this year with plans to redevelop it into apartments.

(As of Saturday, Rose Law Group now represents the owner of the Circles Records building.)
