Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey fired lobbyists who contract with various state boards and commissions Wednesday, saying in a statement that he was ending a system where “lobbyists get richer” at the expense of “special interests.”
Ducey, a Republican, ended the state’s contracts with roughly 10 individuals and firms, through an executive order. The directive affects lobbyists that represent entities ranging from the State Board of Nursing, the State Board of Dental Examiners, the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission and the State Board of Education, according to Ducey staffers.
Representatives from various government entities affected by the order, as well as the contract lobbyists, could not immediately be reached for public comment.
