Independent Newspapers buys 4 West Valley papers

Independent Newspapers Inc. has purchased four publications in the northwest Valley, landing another set of 10/13 Communications Inc. as that company continued divesting in the Valley.

Independent, which has eight weekly newspapers in the Valley, bought the Daily News-Sun, which covers the Sun Cities, as well three weeklies covering Glendale, Peoria and Surprise. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal will be finalized July 1.
