Escalade proposal to go before Navajo lawmakers

More than four years after developers first proposed a motorized tramway to the bottom of Grand Canyon, legislation allowing for the project will go before Navajo Nation lawmakers.

A resolution paving the way for the Grand Canyon Escalade development was introduced late Monday, opening a five-day public comment window that ends Saturday.

News of the legislation has already attracted national attention and responses from thousands of opponents. Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye expressed his continued opposition to the proposal.
