After all precincts tabulated, Weiers and Clark claim victory in Glendale

It took all day, but finally, at 2:37 p.m. Aug. 31, the Maricopa County Elections Department had completed its vote-counting task of Glendale ballots.

With 47 of 47 precincts counted, Mayor Jerry Weiers’ total of 10,919 votes squeaked out a 187-vote margin to defeat retired fire chief Mark Burdick, who garnered 10,732 votes.

In the Yucca Council District race, former councilmember and challenger Joyce Clark outnumbered incumbent Councilmember Samuel Chavira 1,295 to 1,273, a 22-vote margin.
