Bashas’ aging shopping center in midtown Phoenix could get apartments, new retail

Bashas’ neon sign at Seventh Avenue and Osborn Road is a iconic symbol for some longtime Phoenicians.

But soon, the aging half-empty Bashas’ shopping center in midtown Phoenix could be turned into apartments with new shops and restaurants.

Developer Trammell Crow is working to redevelop the shopping center, which includes Phoenix’s first Bashas’ store — the oldest continuously operating Bashas’ grocery in the state. It opened in 1956.
