Surprise starts process to annex land around Paradise Honors

Surprise has begun the process of attempting to annex several acres of a county island surrounding Paradise Honors High School and a future junior high school, paving the way for a new development.

The city received an annexation application in September from the owner of the property generally bounded by Waddell Road to the north, Cactus Road to the south, 175th Avenue to the West and Cotton Lane to the east. Surprise also received a Planned Unit Development application.

That application, Community Development Director Eric Fitzer said, is for a project called Magnolia that would encompass most of this area. The land owner, Truman, would retain 10 to 15 acres for his residence.
