Valley Partnership gathers 300+ volunteers to Sunshine Acres for annual community project. “For the second straight year, a record number of volunteers participated in Valley Partnership’s 29th Annual Community Project… [The volunteers] helped transform an underutilized parcel of land into a vibrant fitness park and recreation area at Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa…. 89 corporate sponsors contributed… as more than $200,000 was raised.” Read Savannah Haas’ coverage of the event and see some of the great work that was done (photos courtesy of Taylor Cole from Small Giants), in Rose Law Group Reporter. http://bit.ly/2fdqEEY

North-south corridor study east of Mesa moving forward with environmental review. “The North-South Corridor, spanning 40 miles between U.S. Highway 60 and I-10, would improve regional connectivity, provide an additional way of getting around a growing area of the Sun Corridor, and address current and future transportation needs…” Mesa Independent has details on the “Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement,” plus ADOT/Federal Highway Administration maps showing various spaghetti-looking route alternatives. http://bit.ly/2eJtwsi

Pollack: All eyes on the election. How will a Trump win impact the economy?  A Clinton win? The Monday Morning Quarterback looks at what “analysts fear” most under each scenario. Plus… U.S.: Jobless Claims, ISM Manufacturing Index, Total Non-Farm Employment, Personal & Disposable Income, Single-Family Home Prices & Supply Shortages. After election, what happens to housing issues? When it comes to “[t]he future of housing policy” under Trump or Clinton, it basically boils down to Mr. Uncertainty vs. Mrs. Predictable, according to “two housing experts [who discussed the matter] at the REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Orlando, Fla.” But does predictable “necessarily mean Clinton would be a better president for the real estate industry”? Find out, in this report from REALTORMaghttp://bit.ly/2fQ7ir8

Outlook: Home sales have bright future. In REALTORMag’s continued coverage of the REALTORS® Conference & Expo, NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, along with Dennis Lockhart, president of the Federal Reserve Board of Atlanta, weigh in on the years ahead with regard to “[y]ounger buyers,” “growth in residential markets,” “the economy,” and “interest rates.” http://bit.ly/2eJlvDY

Clarity coming to vexing property rights issue; Adam Martinez, Chairman of Rose Law Group real estate litigation department, provides insight: “[Murr v. Wisconsin]… should get its hearing next year [in the U.S. Supreme Court] and be decided by summer… [T]he case… is expected to be a defining one in a decades-long battle over an issue referred to in the legal profession as ‘parcel as a whole.’” Adam Martinez: “Clarity from the Supreme Court on this issue is extremely important for property owners… Arizona has joined Nevada and 8 other states in filing a brief in support of the Murrs and urging the Supreme Court to protect private property rights and curb the expansive interpretation of the ’parcel as a whole’ rule advanced by Wisconsin.” For further comment from Adam including “what matters to property owners,” plus more on this case from REALTORMag, click through to Rose Law Group Reporter. http://bit.ly/2eSfbHF

Secretary of state raises concerns over ‘petition blocking’ tactics. Elections Director Eric Spencer: “[Secretary of State Michele Reagan] urges the Legislature to address the propriety of petition blocking [‘a practice in which people hire away needed signature-gatherers in order to undermine an initiative campaign’]. Whether this practice should be regulated or proscribed has profound First Amendment implications, but it is appropriate for the Legislature to act and provide much-needed clarity for the regulated community…” But, as Arizona Capitol Times reports, not everyone is “keen on the notion.” Learn why—> http://bit.ly/2fXQnT6

Driverless future growing in East Valley. East Valley Tribune looks at how “[t]he tricked-out Lexus models bearing Google’s corporate logo [and driving all around ‘the streets of Chandler’]… are helping to drive society to a future with dramatically safer roadways that, ironically enough, might someday see stoplights go the way of the horse and buggy.’ (So does that mean that one day we’ll see these old stoplights in the hands of the Amish as well?) http://bit.ly/2fAojST

What cities should be doing for small business. “[T]oo often city leaders and economic developers are not prioritizing small businesses when allocating resources to drive growth, focusing their strategies instead on the attraction and retention of large businesses.” This Governing piece looks at a “new report [that] may make public officials… shift… these priorities. The report provides compelling evidence that small businesses rival, and often exceed, the impact of large businesses…” http://bit.ly/2fkGZoO
