Surprise planners back less dense residential area near school

The Surprise Planning and Zoning Commission was only too happy to approve rezoning multi-family and commercial development to low-density residential.

Part of the massive Zanjero Trails planned area, which has more than 880 acres, this parcel will retain five acres of commercial. This parcel is across Perryville Road from Shadow Ridge High School, just north of Peoria Avenue.

Originally planned for 256 residential units — in something more like and apartment or condominium development, the plan, if the City Council approves the proposed change, would drop that number to 103.
