West Valley economic developers see bright things in region’s future

West Valley economic development officials say their communities are on the cusp of breaking out to bring more high-wage jobs to residents and cutting down on the throngs that leave the region for work elsewhere.

“The freeways are always clogged,” Brian Friedman, director of the city of Glendale’s office of economic development. “We want to help residents stay near their homes.”

Brian Mueller, president of Grand Canyon University, talks about how the public, for-profit university has put more than $1 billion into its West Valley campus during the past 10 years, and is looking to advance the surrounding community.
