60-unit boutique assisted-living in north Phoenix

A local owner/developer will begin making a dent in north Phoenix’s lack of senior assisted-living centers this summer when it starts construction on the 60-unit boutique Emerald Bay Senior Living community on Greenway Road east of 40th Street.

Phoenix City Council approved Emerald Bay Senior Living LLC’s request for a Planned Unit Development last year.

According to the submittal documents, there are more than 30,000 assisted living facilities in the U.S. This particular section of Phoenix, however, is significantly underserved. In its request, the company stated, “It is projected that currently there is an unmet demand of 549 net assisted living beds with a 7.5 mile radius of the PUD.”
