SRP agrees to purchase power from proposed Pinal solar plant

Salt River Project has announced it has agreed to purchase power from a proposed Pinal County solar plant that has generated opposition from nearby landowners.

According to an SRP press release issued Thursday, the utility company will purchase all of the energy produced by Pinal Central Energy Center, a solar and battery-storage hybrid plant.

The project is owned and operated by Florida-based NextEra Energy Resources.
